  1. i believe the 1st person means to say that the phone book only lists lines that they provide the service for, basicllay any PSTN line, as CLECs resell the service provided by the RBOC.
BUT… not only are there phone directories being published by the RBOC, but also other companies publishing phone directories.. while it is doubtful you will be listed in the next Verizon super pages (or its equivalent in your area) if it hasn’t already been printed, if there are any other companies in your area that provide a local phone directory you might be able to contact them and request that you be listed in there directory…
none of this relates to yellow pages, as all business directories have a fee associated with being listed in them, so if this is a business line, then you can contact which ever yellow page directory that serves your area and have your number listed, or take out an ad in the directory…
also many online directories you can add your listing yourself….

  2. Nope. The phone book company lists their customers, not some VOIP company’s.
There are two kinds of service: local and long distance. If your local service is still with the company that publishes the phone book, they’ll list you as a subscriber. If your local and long distance went to the VOIP, no listing.

  3. They ported you number. that means your number is still listed, your just changing service providers.
