Water--keep hydrated and it will help your metabolism.
Fiber--the more fiber you, the less calories and your body will absorb.

Broccoli! broccoli has almost every vitamin and mineral you could dream of. no lie. i would eat if everyday if i could. i love it.
honestly fruits and vegetables are your best friend. they have sugars that are good for you and don't turn into fat as easily as sugars from grains and refined sugar does.
and there are all different kinds to choose from and try everyday!
you super food, WATER! drink 8 glasses of water everyday to keep your body healthy. if you aren't drinking enough water you can't flush out your intestines and it makes your body very tired. you can loose weight just by drinking more water and changing nothing else in your diet. honestly. it's great!
cut out refined sugars and bad fats.
and crank up your water, fruits and vegetables!
and you'll be well on your way to a healthier you!!!

It's not so much just one food that constitutes a healthy diet, but a wide variety of food providing a healthy amount of nutrients.
But in particular, good foods are;
Nuts, avocado's (in moderation), lots of good fats there.
Avocado's can also aid in thyroid production for hypothyroid sufferers or those prone to it (like me, family history, eek!)
Blueberries, especially fresh, lots of antioxidants.
A variety of fruits and vegetables for vitamins and fiber.
Foods I personally prefer to avoid;
Soy (tofu, TVP, ETC), I don't know if it's bad for everyone, but it's often super-processed, and may be detrimental to those at risk for or suffering from hypothyroidism (yes, I take that problem seriously; my mother, hypothyroid, was warned off soy by her doctor).
Meat, but red meat in particular, this is absolutely personal preference, people can lead long, healthy lives on meat, I prefer to live mine on less of it, or none if possible (still live at home).
Dairy, sketchy on the details, but it has been linked to breast cancer and is just kinda nasty to me.
There's a lot of food in between those catagories that I eat, but off the top of my head, that's what I come up with.
Not a lot of sources, sorry, just things I pick up but don't bother to copy the site or book.
