What Would Be A Good Healthy Diet To Follow?

Recently I have been trying to find a good and easy diet to follow. There are too many! What are some good ones to follow? I don’t want to be a vegetarian or anything. I love meat so I wouldn’t wanna give that up.

  1. Common sense is my favorite diet. Meat portions the size of a deck of cards. Reasonable amount of fruit and veggies. Limit the butter and oils. Dry cheese like parmesean over fattier cheeses like cheddar.

  2. Losing weight and being healthy is not about “being on a diet.” You should be looking to make permanent lifestyle changes that you can maintain for a lifetime. If you don’t see yourself eating a certain way forever, then you shouldn’t be eating that way at all.
That being said, the healthiest way to eat (provided you don’t have any special dietary needs) is to have a diet consisting of whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and lean meats. It’s not a fad diet or some special secret–it’s just about eating the foods that do the most for your body. You’ll have all the protein, carbs, and good fats your body needs. The Mediterranean diet is probably the closest diet you will find that will incorporate those things.

  3. - Minimum 5 portions of fruit and veg each day.
    - Drink plenty of WATER (you can drink milk/fruit juice/etc too, but limit those and drink mostly water)
    - Small portions of lean meat (in particular poultry)
    - Don’t neglect your carbohydrates (potatoes, wholmeal pasta/rice/bread etc)
    - Oily fish twice a week (e.g. salmon/mackerel)
    - Use tomato/veg-based dressings and sauces rather than creamy ones!
    - Eat little and often (eg 5 or 6 small meals/snacks) rather than 3 large ones
    - Up your activity (you don’t have to go to the gym – just try walking rather than taking the bus, using stairs rather than lifts, etc)
    - Don’t deny yourself the occasional treat, but make sure it’s OCCASIONAL and not every day! And don’t beat yourself up if you “slip” – you’re only human!

  4. You DONT NEED A DIET…. we all know what is good and what isnt… NOT MUCH OF THE PROCESSED FOODS, i.e white bread, white flour, biscuits, sweets, ready made meals, white rice, crisps etc, and not too much meat, and lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, preferably not over cooked vegetables, not too much hard cheese, as this is high in fat and cholesterol and also lots of beans and pulses and instead of rice and pasta, use wholmeal pasta and brown rice, or you could try bulga wheat, quinoa, beans and pulses high in vegetable protein, lots of bean and vegetable casseroles, aubergines, corguettes, wholemeal or granary bread… everything in moderation… we just have to moderate it and also some form of exercise…

  5. Sorry but the meat’s gotta go.
There’s little in it of any good and lots of bad stuff (animal fats, excessive proteins, as well as hormones and other nasties). Small quantities are ok if you must – but stick to white meat (poultry) if possible.
    Eat fish.
Eat lots of fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, nuts of all types, berries and dried fruit too.
Eat whole grains and fibres (museli, etc), lentils & beans.
Reduce sugar intake (cut out biscuits, sugary drinks and sweet desserts).
Eggs and cheese are fine but not to excess.
Leafy greens – spinach, broccoli, avocados etc. are great.
Drink red wine but 1-2 glasses a day ONLY.
Drink water when you’re thirsty (monitor hydration by the colour of your pee – should be light yellow) but NOT to excess.
Ignore dieticians’ silly advice such as drinking 5 litres of water a day.
If you are sporty and need energy, eat whole grain bread and pasta or rice, and bananas when you’re running or training.
Chocolate (dark, 70%+ cocoa beans) is good for you too.

  6. ProfessorK has hit it right on the head. Eating unhealthily is a function of our modern society. The best way to approach eating properly is not to consider yourself as being on a diet, as this implies that your change is temporary. Instead, try to get into the mindset that you are making a lifestyle change and that your new way of eating is forever and not just until you lose X amount of weight. Eating properly is simple enough. Avoid where at all possible anything that is not provided by nature, or relatively close to being provided by nature. For example, an apple or a potato are produced by nature, but a Mars bar is produced my humans through a manual process of mixing various ingredients that may or may not be good for your body. Eating properly is all about nutrition, and that means giving your body the essential vitamins, minerals and energy it needs to function properly. These things are found in great quantities in things like, whole grains, vegetables, fruit, lean meats, some dairy etc. They are only found in small quantities in foods like pizza, chocolate bars, fizzy drinks, candy, pastries etc. Generally speaking, nutritious food has more nutrients per calorie and less nutritious foods have less nutrients per calorie.
My advice is to read up on nutrition and forget about being on a diet. Make a change to your attitude toward eating and stick with this change. You will have to accept that there will be times when you fall off the wagon, but you just get back on and try your best to stick to your new lifestyle. In time, your body will come to rely on your new way of living and you will never be able to live any other way. Good luck with your choices.

  7. Don’t go for a fashion diet. Usually useless. Some of the best diets can be found in bodybuilding books. Arnie’s encyclopedia is full of tips and good stuff, as is Sly Stallone’s new book. Plenty of exercise is important. Remember to treat yourself once a week to a Chinese or Indian takeaway once a week !

  8. Check out Diabetic diets.
You can eat everything and you lose weight, feel good and you are narrowing your chances of developing Diabetic 2.
It’s an exchange diet, where you trade potatoes in place of bread or vice versa. You trade carbs. You can have a certain amount of everything, but not all at the same time. . .of course.
It takes a little studying the exchange diet but once you get use to it you will like it.

  9. The comment regarding 5 smaller meals is a good one. I’ll add to that, that breakfast is important, even if its just a slice of wholemeal bread and some yogurt.
Also, Eating late at night is a tricky one, if you’re exercising a lot then I’ve heard of some guys who will wake themselves up at 3am to take on a protein drink or other protein source to feed the muscle growth. It is good to have a snack say at 9.30 or 10 oclock at night though, otherwise its a long time between meals (just cos your asleep, doesn’t mean it doesn’t count) and you’ll be less likely to eat a large breakfast and snack through the morning too :)

  10. I have been folloeing the British Heart Foundation’s “So you want to lose weight…for good”. It is a healthy eating plan which is easy to follow, and doesn’t exclude the goodies we all like – just have them in moderation!! I have lost 3 1/2 stones on it so far. I still have a way to go, but at least I am now out of the obese category.

  11. one should include lots of fibre in thier diet. cut down on your portion size, and definitly eat 5 to 6 meals a day, with about 10 glasses of liquid.
breakfast is the most imp meal of the day so never never miss it.and have an early dinner.
i believe you can eat what you like as long as you have the ability to burn those calories.
so always ask this question before you eat anything……….
    1. am i gonna benefit from this eating
    2. will i be able to burn the calories im gonna eat.
    happy eating!

  12. Slimming World is the best diet to follow, nothing is banned you just have the naughty things in moderation, you never feel hungry as there is so much you can eat and still lose weight. I had a baby nine months ago and thanks to slimmng world I am back to my pre pregnacny weight

  13. Well, until January I’d never been on diet and was 2 stone overweight so I went on the Weightwatchers points plan and lost my excess weight slowly over 4 months along with regular exercise, it’s flexible and you can eat pretty much what you want as long as it’s in moderation.
I was sceptical at first but it really does work-as long as you are patient and realisitic that you are not going to lose tonnes of weight in a few weeks!

  14. You could take a look at “Patient Heal Thyself” (“A remarkable health program combining ancient wisdom with groundbreaking clinical research”) by Jordan S. Rubin, N.M.D.,PhD., published by Freedom Press; email info@freedompressonline.com; which gives (not vegetarian) “The Maker’s Diet” and which is an absolutely brilliant book. Aingeal.

  15. the South Beach worked really well for me. You never feel hungry and you only have to give up bread, pasta, potatos, alcohol and fruit for 2 weeks then they are all reintroduced again. It’s simple to follow. I dropped 9 kilos in 2 months combining the eating programme and exercise. And I have kept it off since (now 18 months).

  16. I work on the Atkins plan. Cut out carbohydrates for 2 weeks, drink plenty of water a day (about 3-4 litres) and then start gradually re-introducing carbohydrates until you stop losing weight. That is your optimum level of carbs to take. Go over that level and you start putting on weight again.

  17. Try to avoid red meats; if you can stick to chicken and fish; lots of vegetables, and fruit to snack on, at least 5 helpings a day. Always leave the table feeling a little hungry and use smaller plates.

  18. How much you eat, when you eat, and exercise are the biggest factors. Go for long walks, eat moderate amounts and don’t eat late at night. Diet is an aspect of food-obsession.

  19. Graze throughout the day. Small amounts of unsalted nuts.Eat a varied diet not too much of any one thing. Aviod red meat as that is carcenogenic

  20. Nothing involving rocket science is what I found worked to help me loose 3 stone and stay at 9 stone within a few pounds for 10 years.
HIGH FIBRE & LOW FAT search through fibre & fat not calories or fancy diets.
    God Luck

  21. Eat lots of vegetables, fruits, lean meats, fish, and drink plenty of waterhttp://weightcontrolinfo.com
